TJV Qualifier DelayedSteve and Philippe have had to delay the departure of their qualifying sail for a couple of days. The old Sat C on board cannot be repaired. This resulted in Steve having to get a ferry to Caen (in France) yesterday to collect the spare unit from the boat that he leant it too.
The Sat C is required under the race rules as it is a major part of the communications equipment. The race committee need to be able to poll the position of the boat every six hours both for safety and performance analysis. Without it the boat is unable to undertake the qualifier as it is a vital bit of kit that needs to be tested during the 1000 miles.
Steve is fitting the new one this morning and hopefully the pair will be ready to depart tomorrow morning. With a very big high pressure dominating the UK the winds are not looking ideal so progress for the passage may be sow. Posted by Philippe Falle at 11:13 AM Leave Comment
