ICAP Leopard Dates for 2012

After the success of our sailing day on one of the World’s fastest yachts, ICAP Leopard, Sailing Logic are delighted to announce we have secured two more exclusive dates for 2012;  Saturday 9th June or Sunday 26th August 2012.

ICAP Leopard is one of the World's fastest racing yachts. She is a 100ft super maxi from Farr Yacht Designs. Benefiting from a canting keel, which is the equivalent of 200 people hiking on the rail, a 154ft carbon fibre mast and carrying 15,000 sq ft of sail are, Leopard is incredibly stable and whizzes along even in the lightest of airs, easily reating her own apparent wind.

Having the chance to even sail on such a breathtaking yacht, use the winches, help with sail changes and even to take the helm is a rare opportunity and one that will stand-out in your memory for a very long time!

Sailing Logic exclusively are able to offer individual places on ICAP Leopard, which usually charters for £12k per day!

Complete with a full catering package, this fantastic day starts at 9.45am in Ocean Village, Southampton when you board the impressive ICAP Leopard. The skipper gives a safety brief and tour of the yacht, explaining some of the incredible technology that supports such a large, powerful racing yacht – including a demonstration of the effect of the canting keel (hold on tight!)

To see photos from last year’s fantastic event, please visit our website gallery.

The day is £375 + VAT per person (£450) including all catering throughout the day, and souvenir photos! If you’d like to purchase a place on ICAP Leopard as a gift, we supply personalised Gift Vouchers, complete with a presentation pack.

No sailing experience is required.

To book on, simply  contact us with your preferred date.

Visit Malta Puma wins Garmin Hamble Winter Series

By the end of week 7 in the 8-Sunday race series, Sailing Logic’s Visit Malta Puma, under the expert guidance of skipper Tim Thubron, have such an unassailable lead heading into the last race this coming Sunday that they cannot be beaten!

What a great position to be in - the team can race with no pressure and enjoy the day! The crew have sailed brilliantly all series, mainly finishing 1st or 2nd in IRC Class 1.

After the end of the 4th weekend, when Puma was very badly damaged in a collision, there were fears over how long she might take to be repaired and would the crew take some time to settle back into their groove? However, local repairers Desty’s Marine, worked tirelessly to see Puma back on the water in just 10 days and the team dusted themselves off, and got straight back into the thick of it. Their tenacity and great teamwork has proved a winning formula and they can justifiably be very proud of themselves!

Snapping at their heels all series have been the team on Jaguar Logic, led by Skipper Peter Burwood and mates, Fi Walker and Mike Martin. Jaguar posted some seriously good early series results and have been very consistent since, earning themselves 4th place going into the last race on Sunday. They are just 1 point behind 3rd place and only 3 points behind 2nd place, so there is everything to race for! It’s a fantastic achievement for a team who have not raced together before and what a marvellous achievement it would be to see them on the podium along with Puma..... go for it guys!!!

Sailing Logic collects RORC Schoolboat of the Year trophy

The RORC Annual Prize Giving dinner was held at the incredible Royal Banqueting House in London for the third year – a truly spectacular venue with more than your average amount of WOW factor!

After a champagne reception, we were ushered into the main dining room where you can’t help but pause to look up and admire the last remaining ceiling painted by Ruben, where scenes from the reign of James I watch over the proceedings.

Famous as the execution site of King Charles I in  1649, on Saturday night many of the famous faces from sailing were present including Niklas Zennstrom who later collects the RORC ‘Yacht of The Year’ for ‘Ran’ after a very successful racing season.

As coffee is served the awards presentations begin and one of the first up is Philippe Falle receiving a RORC medallion for 3rd place in IRC Class 2 on behalf of Sailing Logic’s ‘Quokka’.

Soon after, Sailing Logic’s ‘Visit Malta Puma’ is awarded the David Fayle Memorial Trophy for the best Sailing School Yacht in IRC overall. We’re incredibly proud that this is the seventh consecutive year we have won this trophy and it’s a fantastic testimony to our unique ethos and approach.

Unfortunately her skipper Tim Thubron is unable to attend as he is dedicated to racing in the Hamble Winter Series early the following morning (in which he is currently leading IRC1!).

As Allie is presented the fantastic trophy, by the Commodore of RORC Andrew McIrvine, the Race Director, Ian Loffhagen declared a special note of recognition to Allie, for her dedication, such a positive contribution to sailing and having welcomed so many newcomers to the sport of offshore racing over the past seven years. As one of Sailing Logic’s stated aims – it is great to have the RORC publicly congratulate us on it!

After presentations are over, the dance-floor opens and the celebrations begin. From here on, the rest of the evening becomes somewhat blurred....
