HAMBLE WINTER SERIES RACE 3

Oh where did the winds gods go this weekend?
A very early and frosty start on Sunday for the Hamble Winter series saw all 3 of the Sailing Logic yachts determined to succeed and better their positions in IRC 1.

In anticipation of a light wind race, the yachts were made as light as possible and left the dock eager to get into the thick of it. A forecast of 8 knots of wind was a reality at Bramble Bank and the racing was started in good vibility but very little breeze. Jaguar and Puma Logic made a good start and were vying for the lead position going round the first windward mark. Jaguar Logic was first round with Puma and Premier Flair just behind. Puma then pulled ahead after hoisting their kite only for the wind to die away completely leaving the whole fleet wallowing in the morning sunshine.

A general recall of IRC 3 class, when no yacht was able to make it back to the start line made the decision for the race committee to abandon racing for the day as easier call. With no wind forecast until mid-afternoon, the yachts turned back in the direction of Southampton Water and home. A disapointing end to a race which held good promise. Let's all do a wind dance for next Sunday!!
