Less than 24 hours to go…. And a course change!!

This weekend has found frenetic activity down on the pontoons of Shamrock Quay and Universal Marinas in Southampton, with the 2 Sailing Logic yachts getting prepared for the biggest race of their lives. However much you think you are ready and have the yachts prepared there are always those last minute jobs that seem to take forever, and the small jobs list that was only going to take a few hours just keeps growing.

Winches have been serviced, spares have been stowed, sails have been checked and double checked, and food has been packed, labelled and crammed into every crevice on the boats. Toilet roll sheets have been carefully counted to make sure enough has been allocated, and fights have already broken out about how many crisps the yacht should take….

The latest breaking news that the course has been changed from a clockwise circumnavigation of the British Isles to an anticlockwise rounding, a decision made by RORC due to inclement weather predicted on Thursday of Force 8 or more in the region of the Western Irish Coast.  This is the predicted area where the majority of the fleet will be, so the decision has been made to switch the route to the opposite way….that will make the navigator’s hair turn grey overnight that’s for sure!

The yachts are carrying Race tracking devices which means that you will be able to follow their progress along with the rest of the fleet on the race tracker part of the website – please follow this link to start!!  http://sevenstar.rorc.org/2010-fleet-tracking.html.

We will be blogging twice daily with news directly from the yachts, the crew’s thoughts on progress and also how the yachts are doing against their nearest rivals and of course, what position they are in!

If you have any messages to send through to either of the yachts please email allie@sailinglogic.co.uk and I will pass them to the yachts as soon as possible.
