Round Ireland Race 2012
The Round Ireland
Race provides 700 miles of extremely competitive racing
starting on Sunday 24th June in Wicklow.
In 2012 we are entering our Reflex 38's in the
Round Ireland race, which are very competitive offshore racing
yachts. In 2010 Visit Malta Puma, our Reflex 38, won
Round Ireland in class IRC 1 and finished 3rd overall.
Over the past few years our Reflex 38's have
enjoyed great success offshore and Visit Malta Puma was named
as the RORC 'Yacht of the Year' in 2009
and has also won the'RORC Schoolboat
Trophy' for the 6th consecutive year. This is clear
testimony of the quality of our yacht race training programme for
offshore racing.
Venturing into the Atlantic Ocean, the Round
Ireland Race is a great test of endurance and seamanship. There is
normally a good variety of conditions which often includes a
downwind sleigh ride along the West Coast of Ireland. You will
experience a great sense of achievement after circumnavigating
Ireland; it is one of the true offshore classics.
At Sailing Logic we have a passion for
offshore racing and actively encourage new faces to the
sport. Our Round Ireland campaign provides a great
mix of training with some exciting offshore racing. Our top-notch
skipper James 'Chippie' Gair has a huge
amount of offshore racing experience and will be a great
inspiration.
The Round Ireland Race is the ideal race to
improve your offshore racing skills and will give you a great
foundation if you are thinking of racing in the Rolex
Fastnet Race 2013. Or if you don't have enough holiday to
committ, consider our RORC series of weekend races.
During the campaign, you will gain over 1000
miles offshore experience. And if you are keen to log miles
consider joining us for the 400nM yacht delivery trip from
Southampton to Wicklow, which will contribute greatly toward
an RYA
Yachtmaster qualification.
