Introduction to Racing - Beginner Race Training (Cruising conversion)

The perfect opportunity to try yacht racing.

Perhaps you've got your RYA Day skipper and have been cruising and are now looking to see how racing compares? Or maybe you are a regular dinghy racer looking to make the move to yacht racing?    There are very few opportunities for people with no previous yacht racing experience to get a chance to go racing, so at Sailing Logic we have the perfect solution.

Our Introduction to Racing weekend course covers everything you need to get started and takes place over a single weekend and combines a day of training/teaching with a day of racing in a local regatta, where you actually compete against regular crews! Perfect as a cruising-conversion course, and an ideal refresher for rusty racers.

The weekend starts at 9.30am on the Saturday morning with a safety brief before heading out onto the water where you will develop your teamwork and learn the basics of the different racing manoeuvres. After a group meal out in Hamble, on Sunday you will put into practice all you have learned when you race in the Hamble Winter Series or Warsash Spring Series! You can join the course again for a second week to really consolidate your learning and build on your previous race experience.

This is an ideal way to get a taste of inshore racing. You will experience the excitement of close racing under the watchful eye of our experienced race skipper and first mate. After completing this course you will be familiar with the concept of round the cans racing and will ready to move onto the next stage, which could include the popular Round the Island Race, or racing at Cowes Week or the Warsash Spring Series or even Antigua Race Week! You may also want to consider the Race Development Course.

If you have never been on a boat before, we recommend that you start with an RYA Competent Crew course to familarise yourself with the basics of sailing and then join this fantastic racing course.
