Race To Win
Race to Win is a truly unique training course aimed at
racing sailors with lots of experience, possibly already
skippering.
For this 5-day course we recruit the help of industry
specialists such as Team GBR Olympic Coaches
to ensure the highest possible standard of coaching.
Guest meteorologist Libby Greenhalgh from Skandia
Team GBR will run a session on weather,
reading forecasts and trasnlating to the race course, helping you
plan for wind-shifts, read the clouds and their
local effects as well as factoring in tidal impact
on your course..
Steve Lovegrove
(Skandia Team GBR Coach) along with experienced
offshore racing skipper and coach Chippie Gair, will run
sessions on helming, communication between helm and crew,
focus on acceleration out of manoeuvres and maximising boat
speed.
There will be a session on race strategy, navigation and
tactics, covering both inshore and offshore race
routing.
We also cover crew management - allocating your
crew to roles, and showing you how to get potentially disparate
crew racing together to ensure smooth manouevres and maximum boat
speed.
Where possible we will use a RIB to gather off-boat video
footage to maximise debrief and feedback opportunities.
If you are a regular on the racing circuit, but want to
know what it takes to become a race-winning skipper, this advanced
racing course is for you.
If you are not quite looking for skipper level coaching, but
want to gain a better appreciation of the crew roles, how to
perfect the various manoeuvres and to help maximise your boat
speed, then our Race Development Course or Racing Sail
Trim masterclasses might be perfect for you. Or if you already
have a regular race crew, consider some own boat tuition - which for a
fraction of the cost of new sail, will often yield huge
dividends.
