Rolex Fastnet Race 2011
The infamous Rolex Fastnet Race is the highlight of the Royal Ocean Racing Club's (RORC) calendar. It has earned the reputation as one of the most demanding offshore races and is widely considered one of the world's classic ocean races.
Puma Logic, our Reflex 38, is the RORC 'Yacht of the Year' 2009. She has also won the RORC 'School Boat of the Year' for the past five consecutive years!
The 608 mile Rolex Fastnet Race is a real test for skipper and crews with its tricky tidal currents and changeable weather conditions. The race attracts entrants from all around the globe with a diverse entry ranging from the fastest grand prix race yachts to small cruiser racer family boats.
Over the past few years Sailing Logic has enjoyed considerable success at offshore racing. Sailing Logic has won the 'Best School Boat Trophy' in the Fastnet Race for the past three races, the RORC Madeira to Cowes Race in 2008, finished 2nd in the RORC championships overall in 2009 and has enjoyed several other wins and podium positions. All this is a testimony to the quality of the tuition and structure of our racing campaigns, which actively encourages new-comers to the sport.
All our teams will train together and combine tactical/training briefings to maximise the facilities and structure we have implemented. Our teams will learn from each other to constructively improve the level of all the teams whilst utilising the diverse and comprehensive experience of our staff.
Our training programme for the Rolex Fastnet Race is second to none, as endorsed by our consistently good results. There will be two training weekends and then four qualifying races which are very much a part of the training process. This far exceeds the minimum requirement of RORC.
If you want to gain some valuble offshore racing experience in 2010 then you may want to consider participating in our Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland, our Round Ireland or the RORC Offshore Campaign. If you want to learn to race yachts offshore but have never been racing before then our Introduction to Racing Course maybe ideal for you.
We cater for a complete cross section of experience levels and personal requirements. The important thing is that everyone comes with an open mind, loads of enthusiasm, has a desire to do well and possess a great sense of humour.
