RYA Coastal Skipper

The RYA Coastal Skipper Course teaches more advanced
sailing techniques designed to prepare you for to skipper passages
more challenging than a single day sail. The 5 day course
concentrates on navigation, practical meteorology, night pilotage,
man overboard recovery, boat handling, watch keeping and
preparation for sea.
Students will take it in turn to skipper the yacht and practice
the new skills that have been learnt. By the end of the RYA Coastal
Skipper Course you should have the confidence to skipper a yacht on
longer coastal passages.
Before you take the course, please check that
you have the required logged
mileage as well the RYA Coastal/Yachmaster Theory
Certificate. If you need to gain more experience or log more
tidal miles, consider joining one of our delivery
trips or milebuilders.
An RYA Coastal Skipper course completion certificate will be
awarded on successful completion of the course. Or you can opt
to take an additional exam to acheive the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster
Coastal Certificate.

Format:
This course is delivered by a training
partner.
Join the yacht in Southampton on Sunday 7pm, ready to set sail on
Monday morning. Stay on board and return about 4pm on Friday. The
optional exam runs Friday night - Sunday.

What is included:
Staying on board overnight (please
bring a sleeping bag), food onboard from Monday morning. Tuition
