| Course Duration: | 5 days (split weekend) |
The RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster
Offshore theory course is an advanced course for more experienced
skippers. Building on the Day Skipper Course it is highly
recommended for anyone contemplating the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore
practical exam.
The course
syllabus focuses on advanced navigation including
secondary ports, long-distance passage planning, navigation in
restricted visibility, course shaping and pilotage. By the
end of the course, you will have a better understanding of
meteorology and how this may affect your passage as well as a
detailed knowledge of the collision regulations and safety at
sea.
GPS has become a primary tool for navigation so modern
electronic aids are an important part of the syllabus.
