Manches Cup

Manches Cup (Legal Profession Regatta) 14-16 May 2010

2010 will be the 20th staging of the Manches Cup and is promising to be the largest and most spectacular to date. As the main social, sporting and networking event for lawyers, this has now become one of the largest regattas in the country.

The Manches Cup is open to competitors of all levels of experience, from the complete novice to the expert yachtsman. Entry is open to crews from law firms, in-house counsel, barristers' chambers and suppliers to the legal community.

Divisional Structure
Division 1 - Beneteau 40.7's. The yachts in this division are all Beneteau 40.7's with spinnakers. All of these yachts must be booked with a professional skipper and a 1st mate.

Division 2 - IRC Racing, Spinnaker Division. This division is for every other type of racing yacht all with professional skippers, mate and spinnakers

Division 3 – Cruising (Non-Spinnaker) Division. For teams with less or no experience aboard, or for teams who want more of a relaxed time on the water without the added complication of spinnakers.

Yachts Available: Reflex 38, Beneteau 40.7, Beneteau 44.7, J109, J133, Farr 45. Prices available on request.

Event Itinerary:

Friday 14th May 2010
15.00 – 21.00 Regatta Office Open (Hamble)
16.00 – Yachts available for collection
19.00 – Late. Informal evening, usually comprising of drinks and dinner in Hamble, often ending in Boomerang bar, which has a late licence

Saturday 15th May 2010
08.00 - Regatta Office Opens
09.00 - Skippers briefing. Anyone arriving on the Saturday morning should aim to arrive by 09.00.

Saturday morning is reserved for sail training and familiarisation with your skipper and yacht.
12.00 - Race 1 starts
14.30 - Race 2 starts
17.00 - Yachts moor in Cowes Yacht Haven in preparation for the evening party (full shower and changing facilities available).
19.00 - The Cowes Event Centre opens for the regatta party. The 2010 party will be themed as the Manches Cup Space Odyssey Party. Fancy dress is optional, but encouraged!
20.00 - Regatta dinner is served followed by Live Music
01.00 - Manches Cup Space Odyssey Party finishes, (subject to approval of late license.)

Sunday 16th May 2010
08.00 - Breakfast is served in the Cowes Events Centre
10.00 - Race 3 starts
12.30 - All yachts return to Cowes Yacht Haven for prize giving.
13.00 - Manches Cup prize giving ceremony is held in the Cowes Event Centre.
After prize giving crews leave at leisure for free sailing back to Hamble and departure.
