This course is for leisure and professional boaters wanting to undertake more adventurous trips by day and night.
Over the 2 days, you will learn more about navigating at planing speed, techniques for skippering a powerboat in more challenging conditions, meteorology, passage making as skipper and preparation for sea, boat handling, use of engines, emergency situations and night cruising.
The course starts at 9.30am on day one and and will finish at 5.30pm on day two. A night-time passage will be included as part of the course, so Saturday evening finishing times will vary depending on daylight hours.
The course runs with a minimum of 2 students + instructor and a maximum of 3 students to ensure you have plenty of time in the driving seat. The course is based on continual assessment, there are no exams.
Practical skills to the standard of the RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course and knowledge to level of RYA Yachtmaster/Coastal Theory . It is also strongly recommended that candidates hold an RYA First Aid certificate and a VHF/SRC certificate.
Minimum Age 17.
